This is the story of a dad and a daughter,
A father who holds himself to an honor.
A daughter who just wants to be like her father,
But life sometimes makes them feel sort of farther.
Losing sight of the cherished times,
This love can’t be wrapped up in poems or rhymes.
Two genders and generations of blood, sweat, and tears,
But the end goal is the same; they made all those years.
So, yes, sightseeing or daydreams are cool,
But it’s a want, not a need, that she chooses to hold onto.
She might want advice or help on a college,
After all, he has experience, decades of knowledge.
But this want, while cool, is a want to succeed.
A want to impress, stay proud, not need.
A need is a chat, a rant, or spoof.
Just talking or having fun, no need for proof.
She knows the years of knowledge can truly be hard,
With knowledge comes wisdom, but also healed scars.
Saying, “How was your day?” is not just routine.
It’s a care to know what he turly needs.
While she grows older, she wants the friendship to grow too.
But she needs this father to help her see through.
Just like her father, she has her wants,
but their similarities outweigh the cost of their cuts.
To one day pay back all the wants and the needs,
But especially hold onto the good memories.
To one day come home as successful as her father,
But the father just chooses the love of his daughter.
So to all fathers, don’t be stubborn, just be.
Your love is all she really needs.
